Q: What does being a Consumer Choice Award Winner mean to you? How did winning the Consumer Choice Award impact your business?

A: As being one of the largest Sundeck company its important to us that we keep the quality high. By winning this award it is a great indicator that we are achieving that goal.

Q: What makes your business unique in the market?

A: At Arbutus Sundecks we offer a full deck design service. For our customers that want to have the deck custom designed for them, we offer a very detailed 3D rendering that shows every aspect of the ned deck. Also with our years of experience, we are excellent at sourcing leaks and deck failures, this way we can not only repair the deck but ensure that the problem is fully solved

Q: What is ONE characteristic that you believe helped you through your career?

A: I personally am a very detailed person and believe fully in systems. We specialize in decks and I have created a system to ensure that all of our customers receive the same excellent detailed services. We have a unique estimating system that gives you a detailed price list along with pictures to show you what we are proposing.

Q: What is the next priority for your business?

A: My next objective is to create a program where our customer can take a picture of their deck and apply a variety of deck finishes to allow them a fully comprehensive and immersed experience.

Q: What are the "core values" of your organization?

A: At Arbutus Sundecks we fully believe in "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low prices is forgotten". With that in mind, we only offer extremely high-quality products and fully qualified staff.

Q: Where do the great ideas come from in your organization? (Team decisions, management decision etc.)

A: Some of our best ideas come from our people that are in the field building the decks. By being hands-on every day they have some of the most creative and ingenious ideas on how to make our customers experience better and deliver a better product

Q: How do you keep up with the trends in your industry?

A: We are constantly evolving from reading the latest articles in construction, taking the latest courses in building envelope and also looking at the innovation in company management. With the fast evolving use of apps having a great communication process is critical to customer satisfaction.

Q: What makes you/your company successful?

A: Keeping true to our core values and always remembering that we are being trusted with a person's most valuable asset.

What gets you out of bed every day?... What excites me every day is how I can take a vision that I have created with our customers and bring it from paper to reality. This process is always very rewarding.
What hobby would you get into if time and money were not an issue?... I am very interested in sailing. I am actively taking courses and learning all there is to know about that sport.
You've just won the lottery, what is your first biggest purchase?... A catamaran
