Mr. Nicholas initially attended the University of Notre Dame before continuing his studies at the University of Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration as well as a Master of Business Administration. He completed his academic efforts with a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Laws and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law. Highly qualified in his field, Mr. Nicholas is a member of the Federal Bar Association along with the Mississippi Bar.
Now celebrating a lengthy career, Mr. Nicholas has been an arbitrator since 1968 and the chairman of the board at Southland Management Corporation since 1968. He also served as an assistant professor of economics at Millsaps College, an adjunct professor of law at the University of Mississippi, an adjunct professor of law at Mississippi College and a consultant for the Office of the Governor of Mississippi. Due to his interest in civic outreach, Mr. Nicholas has contributed to numerous state boards and commissions while maintaining his involvement with various local and state projects.
Mr. Nicholas' work has been published more than 300 times by BNA and more than 100 times by CCH. Moreover, he was featured in a video entitled "A Conversation with Sam Nicholas, Jr. '66," produced and distributed by the Mississippi College School of Law. Previously, Mr. Nicholas had completed service with the United States Marine Corps. In 2002, he was named a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
Demonstrating continued interest in industry developments, Mr. Nicholas is also affiliated with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the Supreme Court Historical Society, the American Bar Association, the American Business Law Association, and the Christian Conciliation Service of Central MS, Inc., among others. An accomplished member of his industry, he is a 50-year member of both the American Arbitration Association and the National Academy of Arbitrators. Mr. Nicholas was selected for inclusion in the fourth and fifth editions of Who's Who in American Law, the 20th and 21st editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest and the 10th and 11th editions of Who's Who in the World.
