John Vandenbemden Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Supported by more than 40 years of practiced experience in quality assurance, Mr. Vandenbemden has excelled as the sole proprietor of Q-Met-Tech, LLC, since 2012, having also held the roles of a consultant, auditor and trainer for several companies as well as a Master Six Sigma Black Belt. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he has worked as a management representative and the vice president of quality assurance and process development for First Vehicle Services in Cincinnati, OH, since 2003. He also performs contract auditing and training for QMS, EMS and OHSMS for SRI Registrars, and provides training and auditing services for ASQ, EMU, Learn2See, Eagle Group USA, Quality Auditing and Protos Solutions. Previously, he found success as a quality manager for Indalex, Inc., from 2000 to 2001 and the Gallatin Steel Company from 1995 to 2000. A staff quality engineer for Inland Steel Company from 1978 to 1995, Mr. Vandenbemden began his career as a teacher and a coach for the Tri-Creek School Corporation from 1976 to 1978.

A fellow of the American Society for Quality, Mr. Vandenbemden has also maintained involvement with the American Society for Quality Certification Board. Moreover, he was active as an examiner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Quality Award, the Ohio Award for Excellence, and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Mr. Vandenbemden additionally served as a longtime high school official for the Indiana High School Athletic Association and the United States Soccer Federation in Chicago, IL.

Among the notable highlights of his career, Mr. Vandenbemden is most renowned for the implementation of 15 successful management systems for certification and accreditation as a management representative or consultant, where he saved over $1 million for Six Sigma. Likewise, he also developed several successful workshops and presentations presented to clients on-site, at conferences and at American Society for Quality section meetings. Impressively, he led six presentations for the American Society for Quality. In addition to these achievements, Mr. Vandenbemden has composed training programs and authored articles in such publications as Quality Digest, Course Development for EMU, and Protos Solutions.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Vandenbemden has accrued numerous accolades and honors. The American Society for Quality presented him with several awards, including the Service Award, the Outstanding Leadership Award, the Harry J. Lessing Gold Medal Award, the E.L. Grant Medal and the Jim Cooper Award. Furthermore, Mr. Vandenbemden was designated as the Testimonial CMI Chair and honored for Significant Contributions toward the Development of the CQT Refresher Course.

Married to Jayne Ann Barnhart since 1977, Mr. Vandenbemden is the proud father of two children, John and Jenifer. He has additionally welcomed six grandchildren into his family. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and listening to music. Featured in the 60th edition of Who's Who in America, Mr. Vandenbemden earned a Bachelor of Science from Indiana State University and Master of Arts in teaching from Purdue University.
