George Frank Madsen was born March 24, 1933 at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the first of either family born in a hospital. Parents-Frank Olaf and Agnes (Cuhel) Madsen.

Attended public schools Sioux City, Iowa. Graduated St. Olaf College June 6, 1954. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa and commissioned second lieutenant United States Air Force. Employed by Cargill, Inc. until August 1954 when called to active duty serving one-year Orly Field, Paris, France and one-year Rhein/Main Air Force Base, Frankfurt, A.M. Germany.

Graduated from Harvard law School June 1959.

Admitted to practice in Ohio and practiced with the firm Durfey, Martin, Brown, and Hull, Springfield, Ohio. Admitted to practice in Iowa and practiced with the firm Shull, Marshall, Mayne, Marks, and Vizintos. Became partner in succession firm. Admitted to practice US District Courts Iowa, Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, US Supreme Court.

Author, editor, Iowa Title Opinions and Standards (1985); contributing author The American Law of Real Property (1991).

Member Sioux City Board of Adjustment, 1963-1965; Secretary Iowa Missouri River Preservation and Land Use Authority, 1992-2001. Secretary Jesse E. Marshall Sioux City Boys Club, 1980-1984.

Lieutenant USAF·-Captain Iowa Air National Guard.

Member-American Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Foundation, Sioux City Rotary Club. Life Member-National Wildlife Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Pheasants Forever, Wild Sheep Foundation, North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, Safari Club International.
