Dr. Sinning is renowned as the interim chair of the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomical Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a biologist with more than 35 years of excellence in his field. He initially pursued an education at the University of Wisconsin, Platteville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in zoology and animal biology in 1979. Dr. Sinning concluded his studies at the University of North Dakota, earning a Master of Science in anatomy in 1983 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1985.

From 1985 to 1990, Dr. Sinning began his career as a postdoctoral fellow at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He subsequently found much success with the University of Mississippi Medical Center as an assistant professor from 1990 to 1997, an associate professor from 1997 to 2009 and a professor since 2009. Dr. Sinning further flourished with the aforementioned medical center as the director of the body donation program, medical gross anatomy, and clinical anatomy programs and as interim chairman, the latter post he continues to hold to this day.

The author of numerous articles for professional journals, Dr. Sinning has contributed his wealth of knowledge to a chapter of the book "Molecular Biology of the Cardiovascular System" in 1990. His current research focuses on the novel educational processes in the gross anatomy laboratory. A former Hamre fellow and a member of the American Association of Anatomy, Dr. Sinning has been a two-time recipient of grant-in-aid money from the American Heart Association.
