Nancy L. Hogan, PhD, has been Inducted into the Marquis Who's Who Registry

Dr. Hogan is an esteemed professor of criminal justice at Ferris State University



    BIG RAPIDS, MI, February 17, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nancy L. Hogan, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Hogan is a professor of criminal justice and corrections at Ferris State University celebrating nearly 25 years of teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Graduating from Gannon University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1979, she began her career as a correctional officer and prison counselor developing the first AIDS policy for the prison. Dr. Hogan subsequently continued her studies at the graduate level at Mercyhurst University, from which she obtained a master's degree in 1991, and before starting her doctorate, she worked for a state contracted program advising pregnant women and their newborns with chemical dependencies. She completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Justice Studies at Arizona State University in 1996.

Since 1997, Dr. Hogan has found success teaching criminal justice at Ferris State University, having built upon her prior correctional experience and as a faculty member of the at Morehead State University. Further certified by the Michigan Correctional Officers Training Council, she is active as a member of the American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. Among other honors, Dr. Hogan has been listed in the top 100 Criminologists and has been recognized by Ferris State University as an Outstanding Faculty Member as well as with a 2017 Academic Scholar Award by the provost in support of her ongoing research and contribution to the scholarship on criminal justice.

Dr. Hogan has published extensively on factors in correctional environment and rehabilitative outcomes. She has additionally excelled in leadership for the Ferris State University coordinating the Master of Science program in Criminal Justice Administration. She also has been active in the community volunteering for various organizations and serves on the MOISD Career Center's Public Safety Advisory Board. Notably, Dr. Hogan considers her greatest work to be empowering students to discover their own academic and professional success.
