Barbara J. Mathison has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Ms. Mathison utilizes her background in nutrition and wellness to teach seniors how to live healthy lives



    EAGLE, ID, September 13, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara J. Mathison has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An expert in nutrition for all ages and especially senior citizens, Ms. Mathison leverages decades of experience to teach others how to live healthy lifestyles. Well-qualified in her field, she is a certified health coach and completed a certification program in plant-based nutrition. She also holds a certificate of completion in the Food for Life Program from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Additionally, she studied the power of the mind under the mentorship of Glynn Braddy, an educator from Australia whose teachings were integral to her development. Prior to embarking on her career in health coaching, Ms. Mathison was a franchise owner for Snelling and Snelling Inc. and a teacher for Tai Chi Dragon Qigong since 2002 which she continues to teach. Additionally, she was a lecturer for community colleges, and hospital outreach programs. In 1982 she was honored as Idaho's Business Woman of the Year. She relocated to Seattle WA and assumed a role as a bank officer for Old National Bank in 1983.

Ms. Mathison is a proud breast cancer survivor, who notes that she struggled with obesity from age 9 until she was 63 years old. As such, she was inspired to pivot her career focus to support her nutrition philosophy, seeking to empower others through the program. Although she grew up on a dairy farm, she transitioned to a vegan diet and began crafting whole-foods recipes to support her health. Since 2007 she has been the president, certified health coach and Food for Life instructor for Nutritious Way. Under the supervision of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, she provides classes on weight, cancer and diabetes management, and programs for children's health and wellness. She also lends her nutritional expertise as a vegan cook and instructor, and was featured in the article "Don't Eat That!!" written by Laurie Nelson-Barker and published in the View on Southern Utah Magazine in 2014.

In addition to her career in nutrition and wellness, Ms. Mathison received a contract as Liza Minnelli's official look-a-like under the stage name Liza B. Holding this unique role since 1986, she developed a program of some Ms. Minnelli's material, entertaining and presenting a motivational show around the world. She also engages in a variety of civic endeavors, supporting United Way, the Arbor Day Foundation, and organizations specializing in animal rescue and protection. Ms. Mathison served as an advisory board member of the College of Southern Idaho, an educator and state lobbyist for the Denturists of Idaho, and an educator and advisor for the business week program at Boise State University. She was also on the board of directors of the Salvation Army. Ms. Mathison was a keynote speaker for programs across the USA for the Clemson University Professional Women's Programs.

As part of her political advocacy work, Ms. Mathison lobbied in the Idaho Congress for the legalization of private employment services in the state, resulting in the overturning of a ruling from 1812 against private employment agencies. She joined the government's small business program and lobbied in the Idaho Congress for the legalization of denturity and the right to establish a self-governing board, which resulted in the largest per capita vote on initiatives in the state at the time. Additionally, she lobbied at the legislative houses in Boise for the increased and continued funding of the displaced homemaker's program, winning her campaign.

Seventy-eight years old and healthy, Ms. Mathison functions with the goal to support organizations that protect animals and the environment. She also aims to continue assisting abuse survivors and those who have experienced various traumas. A family-oriented individual, Ms. Mathison enjoys her free time with her four sons and families, grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
