With over three decades of diverse professional experience, Ms. Stockton, a polymath, specializes in information technology, music composition and arrangement, and video storytelling. Since 2021, she has found success as the principal music arranger for American composer Thomas Schoenberger. A multi-instrumentalist, she has actively composed since 1996. The information technology portion of her career began in 1983 as a software developer for Raytheon Data Systems and, subsequently, Decision Data Computer Corporation. Between 1988 and 2007, Ms. Stockton built a prolific career at IBM's Networking Software Laboratory in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, achieving distinction as a master inventor of 61 patents. In her senior technical staff role, she travelled the world speaking at major software industry conferences and advising the CEOs and CIOs of Fortune 500 companies on business solutions and advanced technology trends.
Prior to her professional journey, Ms. Stockton pursued higher education at Swarthmore College, concentrating on music theory and performance while earning a broadly-focused Bachelor of Arts in 1975 spanning engineering, psychology, studio art, astronomy, and Russian language. During her I/T career she published prolifically in peer-reviewed and industry journals. As resident composer with the Carson Valley (Nevada) Sinfonia from 2013 through 2016, she mentored developing string students and published many music compositions.
Dedicated to civic advocacy as well, Ms. Stockton is involved in philanthropy as a board member of the Cicada 3301 group, promoting a cultural renaissance led by artists, musicians and bards, mentoring young prodigies in their respective fields of endeavor.
Well regarded for her contributions, Ms. Stockton has received multiple awards, including Editor's Choice Awards for her original music, and the Master Inventor title from IBM. She was featured on National Public Radio's Staccato program and profiled in the Wet Mountain Tribune in 2022. Among her myriad professional accomplishments, she is especially proud of completing 25 music compositions with inspirational videos about the United States of America. She claims her "#The50" project is a quest to compose a unique orchestral work for every state of the country, saying "music has the power to bridge divisions and bring people together." Known for her professional longevity in multiple fields of accomplishment, she attributes success to her faith in God.
