Patricia Belton Oliver, FAIA, ACSADP, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

    HOUSTON, TX, January 30, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia Belton Oliver, FAIA, ACSADP, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Drawing on over four decades of expertise in the field of academia, Ms. Oliver specializes in architecture and design education. Since 2010, she has found much success as the dean of the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design at the University of Houston. Prior to this role, she was active as the senior vice president of educational planning and architecture at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where she served from 1992 to 2008. Ms. Oliver initially began her career working at the California State Polytechnic University College of Environmental Design from 1981 until 1992.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Oliver pursued an education at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in independent studies and a Master of Architecture in 1977. As a commitment to her field, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including The American Institute of Architects and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, where she is active as the chancellor of the College of Distinguished Professors. As the founder and director of DesignLAB at the University of Houston, Ms. Oliver has led the master planning efforts for all of the University of Houston's six campuses. As part of her civic advocacy, Ms. Oliver has served on the Menil Collection master planning committee.

Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Oliver has received multiple awards, including the Educator of the Year Awards from the Texas Society of Architects and The American Institute of Architects in Houston. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud of her accolades and to have garnered expertise in both private and public institutions as a faculty member, the head of the graduate program, department chair, and an associate dean. Reflecting on a long career, she attributes much of her success to her perseverance and passion for architectural education.
