He is instrumental in EPIC's medicated assisted recovery services program and specializes in tapering individual on opiate agonist therapy and transitioning them to a blocking product to assist them on their road to recovery and abstinence.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Dickinson began his career as a staff nurse for UPMC Mercy in 2007 and then for the emergency room of the Jefferson Regional Medical Center within the Allegheny Health Network in 2009. Following this time, he was a medical officer and ship's nurse aboard the Norwegian Dawn for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. in 2010 until taking a role as a staff nurse with the mental health unit of Flagler Hospital in 2011. He served as an interim nurse manager for the mental health unit of Flagler Hospital in 2014 and was promoted to the director of the unit later that year. As director and consultant he was instrumental in upgrades to the physical plant design and changes to policies that served to improves safety for the patients and the staff and decrease the likelihood of a sentinel event.
Mr. Dickinson continued his career with Flagler Hospital in other nursing roles for several years until becoming a psychiatric mental health practitioner and advanced practice registered nurse in 2021. In recognition of his stellar work, he was admitted to the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing as well as the Golden Key International Honor Society for his work in completing his MBA.
Mr. Dickinson recognizes the benefactors in his accomplishments and provides special honor and mention to his grandparents William S. Miller and Elizabeth Miller, his great uncle Henry Miller, his great aunt Helen Miller, and his colleagues Brain Trela, Patti Greenough, Heather Brathwaithe, Dr. John Symeonides, and Virginia Greiner.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Dickinson earned an Associate's Degree in Nursing from the Community College of Allegheny County in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pennsylvania Western University in 2009. Following this achievement, he attained a Master of Business Administration in healthcare from American Sentinel University in 2018 and a Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College in 2020. Well-qualified in his field, he is a licensed registered nurse and advanced NAPPI certified standard trainer. He is also a licensed psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Within the coming years, Mr. Dickinson intends to begin work on his doctorate degree and establish his own private practice.
