Ms. Tessaverne's academic background includes a bachelor's degree in women's studies with a minor in ethnic studies from California State University, San Marcos, completed in 2000. She was also accepted into the PhD program in ethnic studies at the University of California, San Diego, although family commitments prevented her from completing it.
