Since 2010, he has excelled as the founder of his firm, the Law Office of David E. Akpan, where he continues practicing law independently. He has also been a legal research assistant at Maduforo & Osimiri Law Office PLLC since 2010, and a contract document review attorney for Donovan & Watkins Legal since 2011 and Synergy Legal Staffing since 2012. Among other roles, Mr. Akpan has managed review services at Fronteousa since 2017, where he has successfully managed over 50 contract attorneys, oversaw project reviews and cultivated client relationships. His ability to lead large teams and maintain strong client connections underscores his adeptness in the legal industry.

Beyond these positions, Mr. Akpan joined the United States Small Business Administration in Fort Worth in 2017 and 2020 as an attorney advisor team lead. As such, he manages attorneys and paralegals, providing legal support and advice on agency programs, functions, and policies. During his career, Mr. Akpan garnered success in the classroom as an adjunct professor at Weber State University in 1997. He also taught courses in HIV/AIDS at Texas Southern University in 2002.

In preparation for his legal career, Mr. Akpan completed a Bachelor of Science in political science at Weber State University in 1998 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in 2003.
