This venture, which Mr. Pope considers his crowning achievement, was born out of necessity during the COVID-19 pandemic when his business in construction slowed. He and his co-founder, James Pidhurney, developed Chalkless as a grip enhancement technology. They researched the science of grip and discovered that the oils on one's skin are the leading factor in the loss of grip. Combating the oil with an oil-absorbing material improved grip by an average of 70% instantly. In 2023, Mr. Pope and Mr. Pidhurney were granted a patent on this concept, which is now sold to athletes and military personnel globally.

Mr. Pope began his career in 1980 at Righter Group Inc., an industrial paints and coatings company, where he started at the age of 21. He has remained with the company since and gained invaluable experience collaborating on mega projects such as the New World Trade, The Big Dig, and the Deer Island Treatment Facility. In 2015, he purchased Righter Group from his mentor and expanded its operations while also serving as the organization's president and owner.

Laying the foundation for Mr. Pope's business acumen and strategic thinking was his academic background, inclusive of a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of New Hampshire, earned in 1979. He attributes much of his success to his father's training in constant persistence in sales and passion for problem-solving as the engine for innovation.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Pope is actively involved in industry-related organizations such as the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (formerly the National Association of Corrosion Engineers) and the National Shipbuilding Research Program. His contributions to these fields have been recognized with high-performance service awards and sales awards from Tnemec Company, based in Kansas City, Missouri. Outside his career, he is dedicated to family, community and the arts, as evidenced by his role as founder of the Pentucket Fine and Performing Arts Foundation.
