MADISON, WI, August 01, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard Allen Rossmiller, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Rossmiller, a distinguished academic and researcher, has made significant contributions to the field of education throughout his illustrious career. He retired from his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1993 after more than three decades as a faculty member. During his tenure, Dr. Rossmiller served as a professor of educational administration from 1962 to 1993 and held the position of director of research for five years. His expertise in the economics and financing of education, as well as his role as an expert witness in school finance, has been widely recognized.

Throughout his career, Dr. Rossmiller held several visiting professorships at esteemed institutions worldwide, including the University of Florida from 1967 to 1968, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 1977, and Damascus University in Syria in 1986. Before these roles, he served as the principal at Evanston Township High School in Illinois from 1960 to 1961 and as the superintendent of Muskego-Norway Schools in Wisconsin between 1961 and 1962.

Dr. Rossmiller's academic journey began at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1950, a Master of Science in 1958, and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1960. His educational background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements, particularly his research on educating children with disabilities. The support and encouragement from his family, especially his wife and mother, played a crucial role in Dr. Rossmiller's success.

In addition to his primary role at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Dr. Rossmiller was actively involved in various prestigious positions. His commitment to educational excellence was demonstrated through his membership on the National Commission on Excellence in Educational Administration, as well as his affiliation with the University Council for Educational Administration from 1985 to 1987. He also chaired the planning committee for the International Intervisitation Program in 1990 and served as the director of the National Center for Effective Schools between 1991 and 1993. Dr. Rossmiller also contributed his expertise to organizations such as the RAND Corporation and the Wisconsin Center for Educational Research.

Dr. Rossmiller's dedication extended beyond academia into civic engagement and philanthropy. He served as a public member on the Wisconsin State Legislature's Legislative Council in 1978 and directed the State Superintendent's Task Force for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in 1983. His philanthropic efforts include donations to numerous organizations, such as the Feed the Hungry Program at American Family Children's Hospital, Doctors Without Borders, The Nature Conservancy and Special Olympics Wisconsin. A well-written writer, Dr. Rossmiller has authored influential publications, such as 'Opportunities Unlimited' and 'Individual Guided Education.'

In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Rossmiller has received several awards, including the Outstanding Service Award from the American Education Finance Association in 1993 and the Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of School Administrators in 1994.
