BARRINGTON, NH, September 02, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amy Fysh, RN, MSN, OCN, CNML, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Fysh has established a distinguished career in nursing leadership, marked by progressive responsibility and a steadfast commitment to patient care and professional development. In 2025, she assumed the role of director of nursing and operations at Dartmouth Cancer Center, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics. In this capacity, she oversees daily operations, ensuring her team is equipped with necessary resources, conducting chart audits, researching best practices and leading policy revisions and implementation. Ms. Fysh's responsibilities extend beyond oncology, as she collaborates with other leaders across ambulatory and inpatient nursing teams to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Prior to joining Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics, Ms. Fysh devoted nearly 15 years to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, where she progressed through a series of notable roles throughout her tenure. From 2022 to 2025, she served as the director of nursing cancer services, following her experience as the interim director of nursing cancer services in 2022.

From 2019 to 2022, Ms. Fysh served as the nursing manager in oncology at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. During her tenure, she guided her team through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Under her leadership, the oncology department maintained uninterrupted patient care despite significant obstacles, including limited access to personal protective equipment. Ms. Fysh fostered a culture of teamwork and resilience, with staff volunteering for additional shifts and supporting one another to ensure continuity of treatment for vulnerable patients.

In addition to her contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Fysh also spearheaded quality improvement initiatives, including a project that evaluated and implemented new equipment for therapeutic phlebotomies based on best practices identified through the Oncology Nursing Society. Her efforts culminated in a successful trial focused on patient satisfaction and safety, which she presented as an abstract at the Oncology Nursing Society Congress in San Antonio.

Ms. Fysh's earlier experience includes serving as a registered nurse in both inpatient care and ambulatory oncology at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital from 2013 to 2019. She began her journey there as an infusion nurse at the Seacoast Cancer Center, administering chemotherapy and actively participating in shared governance and various committees. Her foundational years included roles as a staff registered nurse at Frisbie Memorial Hospital from 2010 to 2012 and Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital from 2009 to 2010.

Ms. Fysh's academic background has played a crucial role in her professional growth. She is currently pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration from Southern New Hampshire University in 2025, following a master's degree in nursing leadership from Franklin Pierce University in 2023. Earlier, Ms. Fysh completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Simmons University in 2009.

Demonstrating her commitment to professional development, Ms. Fysh has obtained multiple certifications, including radiation oncology and chemotherapy certifications from the Oncology Nursing Society. She also holds a certified nurse manager and leader designation from the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, an oncology certified nurse credential from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation and maintains her registered nurse licensure.

To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Fysh maintains professional affiliations with a number of industry organizations. She is a member of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, American Nurses Association, Oncology Nursing Society and The Infusion Nurses Society, where she pursues continued learning, advocacy and collaboration within the broader nursing community.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Fysh attributes her success to a strong support system comprised of respected colleagues who have encouraged her throughout her career, especially during her initial managerial role when she was among the youngest leaders at the table. The mentorship she received from other nurse leaders and chief nursing officers has been instrumental in building her confidence and expertise. Ms. Fysh's inspiration to pursue nursing stemmed from her formative teenage experiences with compassionate hematology and oncology nurses, particularly one who provided exceptional care during a time of personal anxiety, solidifying her commitment to the profession.

Ms. Fysh emphasizes the importance of speaking up and advocating for oneself, noting that this is often misunderstood as selfish or self-serving. She observes that nurses frequently advocate for their patients and support their colleagues, yet often neglect their own needs. In her experience, nurses tend to undervalue both the significant contributions they make and their potential for professional growth. Ms. Fysh acknowledges that while it is common for individuals to feel comfortable in their current roles, meaningful growth requires stepping beyond one's comfort zone, a challenging but necessary step for both personal and professional development.

Outside her career, Ms. Fysh enjoys hiking with her children and two golden retrievers, swimming, camping and reading for professional development. Looking ahead, she is committed to supporting her team effectively while remaining informed about advancements within oncology nursing practice. She seeks to leverage her knowledge to implement best practices not only within her specialty but also across the broader field of nursing leadership. With aspirations to advocate for critical issues affecting nurses and patients, such as workplace safety and health care coverage, Ms. Fysh is eager to expand her impact on the profession's future while continuing to find fulfillment in all aspects of nursing that bring joy and excitement.
