After securing certification as a medical lab technician, Ms. Patel worked in that capacity for more than five years before attaining licensure as a laboratory scientist.

Throughout her career, Ms. Patel has demonstrated exceptional focus during critical periods, most notably during the COVID-19 pandemic. Holding both a medical technology license and a molecular technology license, she was integral to the University of Florida's response as the first institution in the region to initiate clinical patient testing. Under her supervision, the team conducted over 7,000 tests during the early stages of the pandemic. Notably, Ms. Patel worked alongside faculty and senior technologists without respite to ensure uninterrupted service to patients and the community during this unprecedented crisis, and she regards this period of unity and collaboration as one of her greatest professional achievements.

Ms. Patel's professional credentials as Medical Laboratory Scientist include a Medical Technologist license, including molecular technologist license, medical technician license, phlebotomy technician license, and she has maintained active membership in prestigious professional organizations such as the American Association of Bioanalysts and the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Inspired by her father's success as a physicist and her siblings' impressive achievements in engineering and health sciences, Ms. Patel recognized her calling in microbiology and lab medicine upon arriving in the United States in 2000, and she attributes her success to the unwavering support of family members, many of whom are accomplished scientists, and the inspiring mentors who motivated her through challenging transitions after immigrating.

Exceptional academic training further defines Ms. Patel's profile. She first attended university in her home country of India to complete a bachelor's degree in health science, with a major in microbiology, in 2000. Subsequently, she earned a diploma in medical laboratory technology in 2001. Upon moving to San Jose, California, Ms. Patel pursued additional coursework related to laboratory medicine while working full time, an experience that broadened her exposure to various fields within medicine and solidified her commitment to laboratory science.

Ms. Patel consistently seeks opportunities to enhance her leadership skills, implement new technologies and maintain rigorous compliance standards. Her efforts have been recognized through several honors, including the Great Inspector Award in 2022, Employee of the Month distinctions and the Manager Cohort Program Award. Additionally, in 2025, Ms. Patel contributed to the Multiple Myeloma Project under ADLM.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ms. Patel enjoys traveling with her family, including her husband and two children, as well as drawing, painting and practicing yoga to achieve balance.
