SEAL BEACH, CA, November 13, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nick Nicholas has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Captain Nick Nicholas serves as the executive second-in-command of the Seal Beach Police Department, where he leads the Support Services Bureau. His portfolio includes training, hiring, internal affairs, jail detention, animal control, and parking—functions central to operational effectiveness and community-facing service delivery.

Captain Nicholas joined the department in 2010 after an early career in emergency medicine. Initially on a pre-medical path, he worked as an emergency medical technician and emergency room technician from 2005 to 2010. A ride-along with a local officer redirected his vocation to policing, culminating in his graduation from the Fullerton College Police Academy in 2008 and subsequent service as a Seal Beach police officer.

In his first year as a solo officer, Captain Nicholas received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Century Award for 113 impaired-driving arrests in a single year, a department record that still stands. He became a detective in 2015, serving as an undercover narcotics investigator on a federal task force for two years. He was promoted to sergeant in 2016, lieutenant and member of the Command Staff in 2020, and then to captain in 2022—among the youngest to attain that rank in Southern California.

An adjunct instructor at Fullerton College since 2020, Captain Nicholas previously taught for the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program and served as a critical care transport EMT with American Medical Response. His academic work informs his leadership approach: he is pursuing a PhD at the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, with dissertation research on the antecedents and drivers of city pride. He earned an MA in political science and a BA in public administration from California State University, Fullerton; an AS in administration of justice from Fullerton College (2010); and completed the POST Basic Academy in 2008.

Committed to continuous learning, he holds CITI Program certification in social and behavioral research (2024) and completed the California Police Chiefs Association Executive Leadership Institute at the Drucker School (2023). He maintains licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician and American Heart Association credentials in advanced cardiovascular life support, pediatric advanced life support, and basic life support.

Captain Nicholas credits his progress to mentorship and advocacy, particularly from women who shaped his growth—from being raised by a single mother to guidance from leaders throughout his career. His community service includes the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Advisory Board; the Board of the Southwest Parking & Transportation Association; board service with Fullerton Heritage Historical Preservation Society; and leadership roles with the California Peace Officers Association, including Region IX and the Law and Legislation Committee. As a Canine Companions handler, he launched Seal Beach's facility dog program in 2021; his dog, Yosa, supports victims during interviews, notifications, and court proceedings.

A frequent public speaker, Captain Nicholas addresses topics such as gun-violence prevention and practical safety strategies ("Run, Hide, Fight"), community dialogue during reform efforts, and the safety and mental health of frontline professional staff. His recent TEDx talk explored government innovation and planned abandonment, urging local agencies to modernize processes and retire outdated practices.

His recognitions include the International Association of Chiefs of Police 40 Under 40 (2025)—one of 26 U.S. police honorees and the only recipient from California—the National Parking Association 40 Under 40 (2024), the California State PTA Golden Oak Service Award (2023), the Trauma Intervention Program of Orange County "Hero with Heart" (2023), the Seal Beach Police Lifesaving Award, and the MADD Century Award.

Raised in Los Angeles and long-time resident of Orange County, Captain Nicholas is also a private pilot and avid music enthusiast. Looking ahead, he is focused on completing his PhD, advancing progressive, evidence-based policing, and driving innovation in local government. He remains committed to teaching, mentorship, and service to the communities he serves.
