His professional journey began at Fordham University in New York City, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication and media studies in 1978. While attending Fordham, Mr. Marino gained foundational experience at the college radio station WFUV from 1976 to 1978, which set the stage for his lifelong commitment to the industry.

In November, 1980, having just turned 24 years old, Mr. Marino advanced to WSBH, Southampton on Long Island, where he quickly rose to the positions of program and music director, a significant achievement in a major market. He managed day-to-day operations under the guidance of station owner and general Manager Mal Kahn, whose forward-thinking approach to broadcasting left a lasting impression on him. As Mr. Marino puts it, "Mal thought decades in advance." He remained at WSBH for six-and-a-half years, overseeing programming and adapting to industry changes.

In 1987, Mr. Marino moved on to Westchester County at WFAS-AM in White Plains, where he began hosting a talk radio show, covering numerous major stories while also disc jockeying weekend music shows, too. His tenure at WFAS, including a format change to Big Band/Standards followed by a return to News/talk, lasted nearly 12 years. With a career defined by many memorable moments, Mr. Marino has demonstrated remarkable composure and professionalism under pressure. One notable incident occurred while he was on air at WSBH, Southampton, when his chair suddenly collapsed mid-broadcast. Undeterred, he steadied himself by gripping the broadcast console in front of him and continued his weather forecast and song introduction without interruption. Another unforgettable moment came at the burial of iconic New York Yankees Manager Billy Martin at Westchester's Gate of Heaven Cemetery, where Mr. Marino captured an animated exchange that he immediately aired between legendary Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and a fan.

A member of SAG-AFTRA and the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists, Mr. Marino has served in several television news and sports roles, as a background actor for a variety of TV shows and movies and also co-wrote and performed in skits for the American Comedy Network.
