Born in Havana, Dr. Lawrence's academic background includes earning a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School in 1991 and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Amherst College in 1988.

While serving as an attorney, she helped create special needs trusts for families with special needs children. She also worked as a private consultant, providing expert guidance and strategic advice based on her extensive legal and leadership background.

To date, she remains deeply committed to raising awareness about mental illness and the need to destigmatize speaking about it, a mission she gradually accomplishes through various approaches.

Dr. Lawrence's professional affiliations include membership in Forbes Business Council and Eliances since 2025, as well as active involvement with C-Suite Network and OPTIMUM Elite Club LLC. These associations reflect her ongoing commitment to professional development and strategic networking within the business community.

She attributes much of her resilience and success to her experiences as a Cuban refugee, which instilled in her remarkable flexibility and determination. She credits her immigrant background for shaping her ability to visualize goals and achieve them despite obstacles, fostering empathy for individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Her achievements have been recognized internationally. In 2024, Dr. Lawrence received the Transformational Leadership Award as a Global Humanitarian from Arise Circle Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. She was also awarded an honorary doctorate in humane letters by Open Christian University in 2023.

Dr. Lawrence is an accomplished author, having published "GLORIOUSNESS" through Henry Forest LLC in 2023 and "The Power of Leadership with M. Teresa Lawrence" with Success Publishing LLC in the same year. She is also a co-author of That Impact Book and The Grand Butterfly Gathering: Wings of Change for a Transformed World, which are both bestselling books where she shares her journey of transformation and impact.

These works underscore her dedication to leadership development and personal growth.

In her own capacity, she also helps people author, publish, and market their bestselling books. She also does podcasts from The Covered Wagon, in addition to being an international public speaker.

Dr. Lawrence enjoys reading, exercising, connecting with and conserving nature, and traveling. Looking ahead, she plans to expand The Trueness Project across Africa by distributing books such as "Think and Grow Rich" in English and Arabic, The Four Agreements, among others, throughout African libraries.

Among other projects, she is also working towards extending her nonprofit's youth mentorship program, which is already changing lives in Kenya, to additional countries across Africa.
