From 2010 until her retirement in October 2025, she served as a professional learning specialist with Imagine Learning, where she became an expert in her field. In this capacity, Ms. Gibbons was responsible for mastering the company's suite of educational technology products and delivering comprehensive training to teachers, administrators and paraprofessionals. Her role encompassed providing best practices, consulting services and ongoing support to ensure effective implementation of these resources in schools.

Concurrently, Ms. Gibbons was a professional development specialist with Imagine Learning (formerly Edgenuity Inc.), where she contributed to the advancement of digital learning solutions by equipping educators with the skills necessary to maximize student engagement and achievement. Her expertise in professional learning has been widely recognized within the industry.

Before her work in educational technology, Ms. Gibbons dedicated the majority of her career to teaching in the classroom. She spent 18 years as a middle school teacher, interspersed with experience teaching fourth and fifth grades at the elementary level. From 2009 to 2010, she taught in Douglas County Schools, further expanding her impact on students' academic journeys. From 2008 to 2009, she served as an education specialist with Write More Education Resources, where she developed instructional materials and supported fellow educators. Likewise, she taught at Bay Springs Middle School in Carroll County from 2007 to 2008.

Earlier in her career, between 2003 and 2007, Ms. Gibbons taught seventh-grade English at T.J. Elder Middle School in Washington County, where she earned recognition for her outstanding contributions to student learning. Her tenure at Burke County Middle School, from 1999 to 2000, was preceded by a tenure as an elementary teacher with Jefferson County Schools in Louisville from 1994 to 1998. There, she taught at both Louisville Middle School and the Louisville Academy.

Earlier roles include serving as a middle grades teacher at Burke County Middle School from 1993 to 1994 and at Stewart Middle School in Douglas County from 1992 to 1993. Ms. Gibbons began her teaching career at Wadley Middle School in Jefferson County in 1990, a small institution with approximately 200 students, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year during her first year, a testament to her immediate impact and dedication.

Throughout her career, Ms. Gibbons has been affiliated with several school districts across Georgia, including Jefferson County, Burke County, Washington County and Douglas County. She also held the position of college and career coordinator at Alexander High School in Douglas County for one year, broadening her experience beyond classroom instruction. A committed member of the Georgia Council of Teachers of English, Ms. Gibbons has consistently sought opportunities for professional growth and collaboration within her field.

Ms. Gibbons' academic background includes a master's degree in middle grades education from the State University of West Georgia in Carrollton, earned in 1997, and a Bachelor of Arts in English/language arts teacher education from the University of West Georgia, completed in 1988. These credentials have provided a strong foundation for her instructional expertise and leadership abilities. Additionally, Ms. Gibbons holds a certificate in middle school teaching from the state of Georgia.

Ms. Gibbons attributes much of her success to the influence of her mother, who instilled in her the values of diligence and self-presentation that have guided her throughout her life. Raised with a strong spiritual foundation and active church involvement, she relies on prayer when making important decisions, a source of strength that continues to shape her personal and professional endeavors.

Ms. Gibbons' commitment to excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Encompassing Excellence Award from CompassLearning in 2015, inclusion in Who's Who Among American Teachers by Educational Communications Inc. in 2005, multiple honors at T.J. Elder Middle School such as Outstanding Seventh Grade Teacher, Teacher of the Year and Employee of the Month, all awarded in 2003, and Teacher of the Year distinctions at both Wadley Middle School and the Louisville Academy.

In addition to her work in education, Ms. Gibbons is an accomplished author and speaker. She wrote "The Teacher's Right Hand," published by Author House (formerly First Books Library) in 2001, a resourceful compilation created during a sabbatical that provides games, worksheets and practical tools for teachers returning to the classroom. She is also the author of "Poems by Kimberly S. Gibbons," published in 1996, and is recognized for sharing insights as a speaker within the educational community.

Civically engaged, Ms. Gibbons volunteers regularly by providing community service to local nursing homes, demonstrating her dedication to supporting others beyond the classroom. Born in Douglasville, Georgia, she enjoys reading, writing poetry and journals, public speaking, traveling and spending time volunteering, particularly engaging with elderly individuals through conversation and assistance. Married since June 26, 1993, to Herbert Gibbons, she values close family ties with five sisters and a brother who gather frequently for sister weekends.
