Drawing on a decade of professional experience, Ms. Gunn-Berube specializes in individual, couple, and family counseling for children, adolescents, and adults utilizing music and art therapy techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy, Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Person-Centered, Positive Psychology, Trauma Focused, Gestalt, and other therapy modalities to assist those struggling with; depression, anger management, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, behaviors, learning disabilities, daily stressors, mental health disorders, career planning, eating disorders, self-esteem, and self-expression. Her approach is informed by her background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy, working in positive behavioral support programs within different school districts, working as a school counselor in a performing arts school, she has sung in numerous choirs throughout her life, progressing to perform with several distinguished collegiate ensembles, she began vocal training at the age of nine; developing her craft through musical theatre before advancing into classical and operatic performance, as well as her personal experiences with learning disabilities and Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Before her current position, Ms. Gunn-Berube was a therapist at The Resilience Therapy Group by Robin Pepe from 2020 to 2024. In this role, she provided clinical mental health counseling to a diverse clientele, further refining her skills in creative therapeutic modalities and trauma-informed care.
From 2019 to 2021, Ms. Gunn-Berube worked as a middle and high school counselor and career counselor at The Center for Performing and Fine Arts. There, she supported students navigating academic pressures, social-emotional challenges and career planning, integrating her expertise in the arts into her counseling practice.
From 2018 to 2019, she served as a learning support, emotional support, and behavioral assistant at Central Bucks School District. Her responsibilities included providing direct support to students with complex emotional and behavioral needs, collaborating with educators and families to develop effective intervention strategies.
Ms. Gunn-Berube was a summer lead teacher and counselor at Children of America in 2019, where she designed and implemented summer programming for children of varying abilities. In 2018, she contributed as a summer ability specialist at Central Bucks Family YMCA, focusing on inclusive activities for youth with special needs.
Her earlier experience includes serving as therapeutic staff support at the Institute for Behavior Change from 2016 to 2018. In this capacity, she delivered individualized behavioral interventions for children diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental challenges.
In 2017, Ms. Gunn-Berube worked as a behavioral and educational assistant at Central Bucks School District, providing classroom support to students who required additional academic or behavioral support. She also served as behavioral support staff at New Story Inc. in 2015, assisting children with significant behavioral and mental health needs.
Her foundational training includes internships in school counseling at Central Bucks School District in 2018 and North Penn School District in 2017. She completed her school counseling practicum at Paul V Fly Elementary School in 2017. Earlier roles include a human resources intern at PeopleShare in 2014 and a service learning and summer youth corps intern at Foundations Community Partnership Inc. in 2011.
Throughout her career, Ms. Gunn-Berube has been recognized for her dedication to service. She received an award for her volunteer hours at Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she contributed to music therapy annually from 2001 to 2018.
She maintains an active membership in several professional organizations, including the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) since 2016, Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, and the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Ms. Gunn-Berube's educational background has been instrumental in shaping her counseling approach. She earned post-master's specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gwynedd Mercy University in Pennsylvania in 2021 after completing a Master of Science in School Counseling in dual certification for Elementary and Secondary education from the same institution in 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, awarded in 2014. She is an alumna of Central Bucks High School West, graduating in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, in 2010.
Her credentials include national certified counselor certification from The National Board for Certified Counselors obtained in 2022; Clinical mental health counselor certification from Gwynedd Mercy University awarded in 2021; Pennsylvania elementary School counseling certification granted by Gwynedd Mercy University in 2018; and Pennsylvania secondary School counseling certification also conferred by Gwynedd Mercy University that same year.
Ms. Gunn-Berube attributes her professional success to her determination, motivation, resiliency, grit, family support especially her incredible mother, her strong networking skills and a willingness to take on the most challenging roles early in her career, including working as behavioral and therapeutic support staff with highly aggressive and violent clients in behavioral schools. These formative experiences taught her to approach counseling from a behaviorist perspective, identifying the root causes of client actions while maintaining empathy without judgment. Her resilience, developed through overcoming personal setbacks, now informs the coping strategies she imparts to clients.
Her commitment to community service is evident through nearly two decades of various volunteer work, annual work through previously known as Camp Fire Girls national youth group organization; now referred to as Camp Fire USA, where she had the opportunity with her Camp Fire Girls organization to provide music therapy, holiday caroling cheer, December holiday fruit baskets, cards and gifts, February Valentine's day cards and gifts, at the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center to all the brave veterans who reside there.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Ms. Gunn-Berube enjoys kickboxing, hiking, kayaking, watching her favorite tv shows, reading a good book, rock climbing at the gym or outside, paddle boarding, singing and participating in various choirs outside of her professional commitments.
Looking ahead, Ms. Gunn-Berube aims to expand Empowered Creative Counseling LLC by building a team of therapists dedicated to increasing access to mental health services for diverse populations while fostering a supportive organizational culture that meets community needs.
