From 1994 to 2013, Ms. Ash held the titles of senior analyst and managing editor first at LIMRA (Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association), now LL Global. During this period, she conducted and published sales results for long term care insurance for Association member companies as well as managing the publication of quarterly newsletters on industry sales and trends to all international Association member companies advancing research methodologies and editorial standards while reporting product sales within the association. Ms. Ash's newsletters published comprehensive studies that have informed best practices across the insurance sector.
In 1967 Ms. Ash began as a group insurance underwriter and trainer, managing the small employer underwriting for all Travelers-insured employers and helping to grow that market in that role, all federal regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, The ADEA Act, and many others were implemented. Subsequently, she worked in the claims division, contracts, and helped bring information technology to the insurance sector, until assuming her position as officer and executive assistant to the president of Travelers Insurance Company's Managed Care Employee Benefits Organization MCEBO. In many capacities, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision throughout 25 years, helping to guide the company through periods of growth and transformation. Ms. Ash's tenure was characterized by innovative and cost-effective approaches to insurance products and services, as well as a commitment to fostering a collaborative corporate culture.
Ms. Ash's academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature from Cornell College, completed in 1967 after studying abroad through The Experiment of International Living. This background provided her with critical communication skills and analytical abilities that have been integral to her success in research-driven roles throughout her career. In addition to her academic achievements, Ms. Ash earned the designation of fellow of the Life Management Institute in 2002. This certification reflects her advanced knowledge of life insurance operations and underscores her dedication to ongoing professional development.
Beyond her education, Ms. Ash is recognized for her active involvement in industry and civic organizations. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Connecticut Public Radio and Television, and is affiliated with the Friends of the Essex Library through the Essex Library Association. She has also donated whole blood and made apheresis donations more than 125 times, also managing blood drives at various times. She is also a financial donor to several charitable organizations, including the American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, Maryland Humanities Teachers Association, and Feeding America. Ms. Ash has been actively involved with churches in England, South Carolina, Old Saybrook and Essex, CT, and she values all opportunities for connection with others.
Throughout her career, Ms. Ash has credited her success to the guidance of remarkable influencers: the ministers of the First Church of Christ in Wethersfield, CT who served throughout her 50-year membership and service in caring ministry there, her family, teachers and friends, and all other role models who have influenced and blessed her life journey. Their support has played a pivotal role in shaping her approach to life, leadership and research.
