OMAHA, NE, March 26, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kara Leigh Roncin, MD, pathologist with CHI Health and assistant professor with Creighton University School of Medicine, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the March 2026 Omaha, Nebraska, regional issue of TIME magazine.

Less than a decade into her career, Dr. Roncin has established herself as a doctor, teacher, researcher and, above all else, a tireless advocate for the well-being of her patients. Beginning her journey in 2016 with a combined anatomic and clinical pathology residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center through Case Western Reserve University, she gained experience over five years, including the completion of a fellowship in selective pathology with a focus on breast pathology. She subsequently spent a few years in her home country of Canada, pursuing a clinical fellowship in surgical pathology with the Saskatchewan Health Authority through the University of Saskatchewan.

After contributing for a short time beyond her fellowship as a pathologist at the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Dr. Roncin returned to the United States. In 2023, she accepted a role as a pathologist at CHI Health, the Midwest division of CommonSpirit Health. Concurrently with this, Dr. Roncin served as a clinical instructor with the Creighton University School of Medicine. In 2025, she was promoted to the position of assistant professor at the school.

Through her work at the hospital, Dr. Roncin offers her expertise in surgical and molecular pathology. Her responsibilities include handling specimens, evaluating microscopic samples, providing diagnoses, creating pathology reports for clinicians and patients, and performing medical autopsies. Dr. Roncin also specializes in cytology, which involves determining diseases based on microscopic evaluation of cells. This process can be essential in screening for cancer and a range of infectious diseases.

Dr. Roncin's academic duties encompass both classroom lectures to more than 100 students and serving as core faculty for a pathology residency program. She expresses a deep passion for teaching that drives her to constantly explore innovative new approaches and methods for integrating technology into her lessons, ensuring that her students receive training beyond traditional textbook learning.

During her medical school training, Dr. Roncin discovered a love for how pathology plays a role in every aspect of medicine and requires putting pieces of information together like a puzzle. While continuing in that field, she is also considering pursuing a Master of Arts in education or a Master of Hospital Administration, demonstrating her commitment to self-improvement across both of her professional paths.

NOTEWORTHY ACHIEVEMENTS
Among her many career accomplishments, Dr. Roncin is particularly proud to have been named Top Surgical and Clinical Pathologist of the Decade by the International Association of Top Professionals in 2026. Additionally, she won the Harry L. Taylor IV, MD Trainee Award in Pathology in 2018, the Association of Residents and Fellows Travel Award from Case Western Reserve University in 2021, and the Jerome A. Smith Infectious Disease Poster Award from the Binford-Dammin Society of Infectious Disease Pathologists in 2021. Honored as the Top Pathologist by Best in Nebraska Magazine in 2024 and Women in Medicine in 2025, Dr. Roncin received an Empowered Woman Award by the International Association of Top Professionals in 2025. She is featured in "Top 50 Fearless Leaders: Stories of Resilience, Strength, Perseverance & Passion, Volume 5."
