MARIETTA, GA, April 23, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Lanham Chappell, MD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Chappell has established a distinguished career as an obstetrician and gynecologist, dedicating the past 26 years to OB-GYN Associates of Marietta. Since joining the practice, she has worked alongside a close-knit team of four physicians, all of whom share a long-standing professional history. Over the years, the group has welcomed new colleagues while maintaining a tradition of excellence and continuity in patient care. Dr. Chappell's commitment to her patients and her field is reflected in her demanding schedule, which often keeps her working between 50 and 100 hours per week. Her ability to balance these responsibilities with her role as a mother stands as one of her most significant achievements.

Before her tenure at OB-GYN Associates of Marietta, Dr. Chappell completed a rigorous four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, recognized for its top-tier program in the specialty. During Medical School at The University of Florida, she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, underscoring her academic excellence and leadership within the medical community.

Dr. Chappell's educational journey began in Longwood, Florida, where she attended school from kindergarten through twelfth grade. She graduated from Lake Mary High School before enrolling at the University of Florida. There, she earned a degree in mathematics and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Her undergraduate years were marked by active involvement in campus life: she served as Vice President- Finance and intramurals chairman for her sorority. She captained the University of Florida Dazzler dance team during her junior and senior years. These experiences not only enriched her college experience but also strengthened her medical school application.

After completing her undergraduate studies, Dr. Chappell remained at the University of Florida for medical school, financing her education independently through both college and medical school. Her determination and work ethic were shaped by the encouragement of her parents, who placed a high value on education.

Throughout her career, Dr. Chappell has maintained active memberships in several professional organizations, including being a current Fellow of the American College of OB/GYN, Cobb County Medical Society, past Treasurer and President of Atlanta OB/Gyn Society, and the Georgia OB/Gyn Society. Her collegiate affiliations include Phi Beta Kappa and leadership roles within her sorority and the Dazzler dance team.

Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Chappell is deeply engaged in civic activities. She serves as the health and safety coordinator for Troop 444 Marietta of the Boy Scouts of America. She has actively supported her son's journey to become an Eagle Scout by participating in related projects and overnight camps. Her dedication extends to supporting organizations such as the Children of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society. In recognition of her service, she received the Medal of Appreciation from the Sons of the American Revolution.

Dr. Chappell's contributions have been recognized through various projects and publications, including being named among the Best of Cobb 2025 and 2026 First Place OB/Gyn and Atlanta Magazine's Top Doctors.

In her personal life, Dr. Chappell finds fulfillment in running, traveling, spending time with family, and wine-tasting with the Commanderie de Bordeaux. She is especially proud of raising two children: a daughter currently pursuing premedical studies at the University of Georgia and a son who earned the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14 and also plans to pursue a Medical career. Her husband holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia and serves as director of medical affairs for a pharmaceutical company based in Atlanta.

Looking ahead, Dr. Chappell anticipates retiring from clinical practice while continuing to cherish time with family and pursue personal interests that have enriched her life outside medicine.
