Mr. Stephens has cultivated a multifaceted career distinguished by his expertise in both military service and hospitality management. Since 2024, he has served as a substitute teacher with Fort Bend Independent School District in Fort Bend County, Texas, where he applies his extensive leadership background and his specialized knowledge in special education. Before working in education, Mr. Stephens served a distinguished tenure in the U.S. Army for over 25 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in February 2024. His military journey began in 1997 as a human resource officer, balancing reserve duties with a burgeoning hospitality career until 2010. That year marked Mr. Stephens' transition to military service as an Active Guard Reserve Officer, where he assumed increasingly complex responsibilities across various commands and locations.

Mr. Stephens earlier military experiences included serving as an Army Reserve staff observer-controller trainer in Houston from 1997 to 2010. He then served as a joint European reserve unit manager at United States European Command in Stuttgart, Germany, until 2013, overseeing all Army reservists deployed to EUCOM and collaborating closely with U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy counterparts. He considers his most significant achievement the guidance he provided to those under his command, most notably mentoring an officer who advanced to the rank of full colonel. This legacy of mentorship underscores Mr. Stephens's commitment to developing future leaders.

Before dedicating himself fully to military service, Mr. Stephens built a solid foundation in hospitality management. He previously held the position of hotel sales manager at Holiday Inn Hotels between 1997 and 1999, serving as a sales manager in Southwest Houston. These roles allowed him to hone skills in customer service, team leadership and operational efficiency, qualities that later informed his approach as a U.S. Army officer.

Mr. Stephens's academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in restaurant hotel management from Texas Tech University and a Master of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University. He further distinguished himself by obtaining certification as a hospitality sales professional from the American Hotel and Motel Association.
