Adrienne D. Mims, MD, MPH, Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

    ATLANTA, GA, October 18, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Adrienne D. Mims, Medical Director for APS Healthcare, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of healthcare administration.

With professional experience that spans over 26 years, Dr. Mims specializes in care management. In addition to her work for APS Healthcare, she serves as medical director at the Center for Black Women's Wellness, a nonprofit organization that provides free and low-cost services to black women and their families. Dr. Mims is responsible for serving the Medicaid and geriatric population, offering health education to patients, analyzing data, and planning strategies. Prior to taking on her current position, she honed her skills at Kaiser Permanente. A recipient of the Pinnacle Leadership Award, she attributes her success to her knowledge of public health and to the support she receives from her mentors.

A product of Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Mims received her MD in 1982, and later earned her Master of Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1990. She is a member of the National Medical Association, the American Geriatrics Society and the American Academy of Family Physicians. She was listed in Who's Who In Black Atlanta for two years.

Dr. Mims has published several articles, including "Increasing pneumococcal vaccination in managed care through telephone outreach" in The American Journal of Managed Care and "Teaching the older adult" in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. Also a veteran public speaker, she conducts lectures and gives interviews over television and radio on preventative healthcare issues such as obesity and smoking cessation.
