Catherine O'Brien Honored for Excellence in Education

Catherine O'Brien helps students at St. Joseph Regional School to overcome learning disabilities and achieve academic success



    BELTSVILLE, MD, May 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Catherine O'Brien, Reading and Learning Disabilities Teacher at St. Joseph Regional School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.

Catherine O'Brien has 25 years of experience as a reading instruction specialist. Now thriving at St. Joseph Regional School as its Reading and Learning Disabilities Teacher, she teaches kindergarten through fourth-grade students suffering from both reading and learning disabilities. Meeting with them individually or in small groups, she focuses on reading, math and test-taking techniques. "Performing as a resource teacher has given many students the ability to thrive and achieve in their academics in a caring and friendly environment," she noted in a recent interview with Cambridge Who's Who.

Crediting her success to her passion for teaching, Ms. O'Brien was honored with the St. Joseph's School Teacher of the Year Award in 2005. Moving forward, she will seek to expand her expertise into the field of technology. Ms. O'Brien holds a master of arts in reading assessment and learning disabilities from Trinity College and lends her philanthropic support to her local soup kitchen.

She is proud to emphasize that Saint Joseph's School is a co-educational Catholic school that aims to develop and extend the foundations of education.
