Col. Eben Russell Hubbard II Honored by Cambridge Who's Who

Col. Eben Russell Hubbard served 32 years in the military, where he attained several awards and commendations



    PLACERVILLE, CA, September 9, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Col. Eben Russell Hubbard, President of H&H Computers, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in business management.

Utilizing his diligence and dedication, Col. Hubbard efficiently serves as the president of H&H Computers, Inc. In this position, he manages operations of the business, including finance. As a Radio Shack affiliate, H& H Computers, Inc. is a distribution firm providing wireless communications and electronic parts, batteries and accessories.

Col. Hubbard obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from San Jose State University in 1950. Prior to attaining his vocation with H&H Computers, Inc., he enjoyed a 32-year career with the military, beginning with his induction into Army Air Corps in April, 1945. He was discharged in December, 1946 and received a reserve commission in the United Stated Air Force as a second lieutenant upon graduating from college. He worked for Pan American World Airways from 1950 through 1953, and that same year he was recalled to active duty and sent to pilot training at Bainbridge, Georgia.

Upon completing primary training he was sent to Reese Air Force Base, Texas for Pilot basic training. Upon graduation and earning his wings he was transferred to Mather Air Force Base, California where he flew T-29 Convair navigation trainers. His next assignment was B-47 Training at McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas. Upon completion he was reassigned to Pease Air Force Base, New Hampshire. While awaiting training from copilot to aircraft commander he volunteered to assist the aircraft maintenance section in supervising the maintenance activities. These activities encouraged him to volunteer for maintenance officer training at Chanute Air Force Base in IL. After two years flying combat training sorties and performing in the maintenance activities he was selected for Aircraft Maintenance Officer School. While attending school he met and married his wife Jean. Upon completion of the training he was reassigned to Pease Air Force Base as an officer in charge of several sections within the maintenance complex. In 1963 he was selected to attend C-123 training at Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina. Upon completion he was reassigned to a tactical squadron in Saigon South Vietnam, where he participated in supporting South Vietnamese combat activities. He was there during the rebellion and overthrow of Ngo Dinh Diem and the subsequent turmoil. Upon conclusion of his Vietnam tour he returned to Pease Air Force Base and was eventually reassigned to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana where he was selected to run the non tactical standardization section. In 1967 he was again sent to Vietnam for a six-month tour, flying VIPs such as retired Army General Omar Bradley, a former Secretary of Defense, and frequently General Westmoreland to name few. Upon the conclusion of his tour he was sent to KC13S training at Castle Air Force Base and subsequently to Mather Air Force Base where he commanded a combat crew, then as squadron operations officer and finally as squadron commander. His next assignment was a joint tour with the United States Navy and a promotion to colonel. While with the Navy he spent two years as Deputy Inspector General for command and control for the Commander-in-chief Atlantic command. In 1974 he was sent to the 4200 Bomb Wing Loring Air Force Base in Maine as Assistant Deputy Commander for Maintenance and a year later as Deputy Commander for Maintenance. In 1977 he was selected to become the Deputy Commander for Maintenance of the 93rd Bombardment Wing at Castle Air Force Base, CA which was the largest maintenance operation in the Strategic Air Command. In 1979 he elected to retire after 32 years of reserve and active duty service.

After his departure from the military, he decided to exploit his interest in electronics by becoming an entrepreneur in the industry. He purchased a RadioShack associate store in 1983 and became the president of H&H Computers. He has been married to his wife, Jean for 49 years and he now has two beautiful daughters and two grandchildren; one girl and a boy. In the coming years, he intends to continue to contribute to the development and success of his company.
