    ALEXANDRIA, VA, April 16, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Darryl W. Sharp, Sr., Headquarters Department of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 Combat Vehicles Requirement Staff Officer, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of expeditious handling and resolution of all Operational Needs Statements from the Warfighters in Afghanistan, Iraq, other areas of the Middle East, and around the Globe.

LTC Darryl W. Sharp, Sr., has 19 years of honorable military service and is currently serving his first tour in the Pentagon. He serves as a force integrator in the Future Warfighting Capabilities Division, DCS G-3/5/7. As a Combat Vehicle Requirement Staff Officer, he coordinates Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documents with Army Staffs and Commands in order to obtain the Army position and way-ahead dealing with combat vehicles such as Abrams, Bradley, Strykers, and Ground Combat Vehicle. He acts as HQDA G-3/5/7's primary staff officer for validation actions on Theater and deploying units submitted Operational Needs Statements (ONS) that relate to Small Arms, Sights, and Combat Vehicles commodities. He also acts as the G-3/5/7 subject matter expert for these commodities when providing staff support and addressing taskers to HQDA and Congress. LTC Sharp considers helping our Warfighters with critical needs to be the most rewarding aspect of his work.

LTC Sharp received his commission in 1989 as a Distinguished Military Graduate through the Army ROTC program at Virginia State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Upon graduation from the Infantry Officer Basic Course in 1991 he began his military service as an Infantry Platoon Leader with 1st BN, 21ST Infantry, Schofield Barracks, HI. In 1993 after completing the Quartermaster Branch Qualification Course he was assigned to the 25th Forward Support Battalion, Schofield Barracks, HI where he served as an Assistant Support Operations Officer and Technical Supply Officer. In 1995, LTC Sharp was reassigned to the 2nd Corps Material Management Center (CMMC), Fort Bragg, NC as a Logistic Management Officer and in 1996 as a Material Management Officer. Before leaving Fort Bragg he served as the Company Commander (Rigger) from 1997-1998. He then rotated to Fort Myer, VA where he served as a Battalion Logistical Officer in 1998, a Battalion S4 officer, and the Mortuary Affairs Officer in 1999.

In 2000, LTC Sharp served overseas with the 2nd ID, Camp Casey, Korea as the Division Support Command (DISCOM) Support Operations Officer. Upon completion of his hardship tour he rotated back to Fort Eustis, VA where he served as the Brigade S4 for the 7th Transportation Group. In 2003 he was assigned to Fort Stewart, GA with 24th Corps Support Group as the Group Support Operations Maintenance Officer, and then became the S3 (BN Operations) officer for the 559th Quartermaster Battalion at Hunter, Army Airfield in which he trained his battalion at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, CA. In 2004, he moved over to the 3RD Infantry Division's DISCOM to assume the duties of the Brigade S4 and in 2005 he deployed with the Division to Taji, Iraq for a year. During the deployment he was chosen to become the Division Support Brigade's Deputy of the Iraqi Security Force Cell. In 2006 LTC Sharp left 3rd Infantry Division to become the Battalion Executive Officer for the 1st Battalion (CS/CSS), 311TH Regiment in Richmond, VA and later in January 2007, he became the battalion commander of the same unit. In May 2008, he moved to HQDA G3/5/7 at the Pentagon as the Equipment Common Operation Picture/JCIDS Integration Policy Branch Chief
and later in 2009 as the Combat Vehicles Requirement Staff Officer in the Future Warfighting Capabilities Division.

LTC Sharp attributes his success to having strong faith in GOD, a desire to achieve ultimate success, accomplish tough goals, and his family. He completed his masters in Procurement and Acquisition Management from Webster University in October 2009. His awards include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters (OLC), Army Commendation Medal with three OLC, Army Achievement Medal with one OLC, National Defense Service Medal with Star device, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Occupation Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Rigger Badge, Ranger Badge, Army Staff Badge, and the Order of Saint Martin Award (Quartermaster Branch Award). His military school achievements include: Infantry Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistic Officer Advanced Course, Mortuary Affairs Officer Course, Battalion Motor Officer Course, Support Operations Officer Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Force Management Course.

LTC Sharp is currently preparing for his next assignment in Kuwait in May 2010 as Sustainment Operations Chief in the G4. A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Webster University Alumni, Virginia State University Alumni, Virginia State University Military Alumni Association and The ROCKS Inc., LTC Sharp hopes to become an Army Colonel in the future.
