Dr. Shirish Shah Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Scientific Collegiate Education

Maryland-Based Chemistry Educator and Lecturer at Towson University

TOWSON, MD, December 3, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Shirish Shah, Lecturer and Professor of Chemistry at Towson University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of scientific collegiate education.

Dr. Shah has an impressive background in chemistry and physics that spans over 43 years. As a lecturer and professor of Chemistry at Towson University, he is responsible for teaching chemistry and writing editorials for professional journals. Prior to joining Towson, Dr. Shah gained extensive work experience as an Associate Professor at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland (1991-2002), a Professor of Science and Chair of Computer Systems and Technologies at the Community College of Baltimore (1976-1991), and as an Associate Professor and Administrator of Marine Science at Chesapeake College (1968-1976). Dr. Shah is a Professor and Lecturer of Chemistry at Morgan State University and served as an organizer of the Science Education Symposium in Maryland from 1996 to 2003. He wrote several articles that appeared in Maryland newspapers from 1969 to 1976 and worked on a myriad of projects including water and waste water treatment plans from 1982 to 1989. An avid public speaker and author, he delivered a presentation at the Lilly Conferences on the East Coast.

When asked what he would most like to change about his industry, Dr. Shah says, "I would like to see tuition costs lowered. In return, students could go through basic training and then undergo between 18 months and two years of service in schools, hospitals and shelters. They could also work in museums, zoos and many other places. "I think that students will benefit by learning about people of different cultures as well as seeing the poor, rich, middle class, disabled and others. This can bring our country together and make it a beacon for the rest of the world," he states. Dr. Shah is passionate about life and tries to enjoy life in his short time on Earth. He believes that the best way to learn is by overcoming obstacles and mistakes, by trying to help each other and by reducing violence and greed. "I am a servant of all gods on this Earth, regardless of religion. I would like to see that humanity reaches its true potential, improves communications and care around the world, and keeps other forms of life alive on our Earth."

Dr. Shah received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Delaware in 1968, his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and Physics from Xavier College in 1962 and certification in business management from the University of Virginia in 1986. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Industrial Hygiene Association, Who's Who in the World, and the National Association of Industrial Technology.
