Muhammad Aftab, MD, MBBS Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who

Muhammad Aftab has performed award-winning cancer research



    Manhasset, NY, July 1, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Muhammad Aftab, MD, MBBS has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication , leadership and excellence in General Surgery and Research, and as a Surgeon Scientist.

Dr. Aftab received his medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from King Edward Medical College (now King Edward Medical University) in Lahore, Pakistan. As a house staff at the Department of Surgery, North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Hospital, Dr. Aftab offers high quality pre-operative care, performs various complex open and advanced Laparoscopic surgeries and post-operative care of surgical patients. He is also a coordinator of ongoing clinical research projects on both advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and minimally invasive Endovascular Surgery of Thoracic Aorta. He attributes his success to his consistent hard work and unwavering dedication to his patients and profession.

Dr. Aftab is also a member of many highly esteemed medical organizations. He is a Candidate member of the American Association of Academic Surgery (AAS), an Associate member of the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), a Candidate member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and a primary fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSP). He is a Resident member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), an Associate member of the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA) and a member of the American Medical Association (AMA).

For his groundbreaking basic science research on Colon cancer, the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) has honored him with the "Scholar-in-training award". His research work presented at Digestive Disease Week (DDW) 2006 was honored with the "Poster of Distinction Award" by the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA). He has coauthored many peer reviewed scientific manuscripts and abstracts published in various high impact factor journals like Gastroenterology, American Journal of Physiology, Journal of Surgical Research and the Journal of Surgical Endoscopy. He is also the coauthor of a popular surgical book for medical students entitled "First Aid for Surgical Clerkship".

He aspires to become an academic surgeon, provide state of the art surgical care to his patients, to further educate residents and medical students and to contribute to scientific advancements in the field of surgery.
