Jacksonville's Amelia Lewis Turns Pro and Finishes 5th
Stakeholder in Tour Resource Center Shoots 3 Day Career-Low; Launches Her Own Site; Embarks on a Life-Long Dream

JACKSONVILLE, FL, May 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amelia Lewis, a 2009 Florida First Coast Scholar Athlete, winner of the 2009 107th North and South Women's Amateur at Pinehurst, and ranked as high as No. 3 in Golfweek Women's Amateur golf rankings; realized a life-long dream and turned professional on April 6th at the Duramed Futures Daytona Beach Invitational - and rode the emotions and adrenaline to a tie for fifth by shooting 7-under-par 209.

"I know that I have sacrificed everything for this moment and now that I am here there is no turning back. I am committed 100-percent," said Lewis, who is also a minority owner of Tour Resource Center (TRC), a Social Media Marketing firm for the Sports Industry. The TRC also host the leading golf resource website that is a 'one-stop shop' for golfers looking for golf tournaments, playing tips for other golfers, mental game notes, nutritional tips, and in-depth information on junior golf, collegiate golf, and amateur golf.

Lewis is one of the Tour Resource Center's Social Media Coordinators, and is actively involved in such campaigns for http://tourresourcecenter.com and several of the site's customers. Additionally, Lewis launched her own twitter - http://www.twitter.com/theamelialewis and website as well - http://theamelialewis.com. "We had the TRC website hit the million-mark in four weeks, not bad considering there are 22-million sites on the web. I hope to do it in 8 weeks with my own site," said Lewis. Lewis's site provides the ability for people to connect, interact, and share knowledge relevant to growing your golf game. She wants to provide 'new' and 'aspiring' professional golfers with a database of information; and she will post a weekly blog under the category "Journey of a professional golfer." Her first blog about sports agents can be read at http://theamelialewis.com/finding-an-agent/.

Prior to turning professional, Lewis tried her hand at the collegiate level, but was not enthralled with the experience. "College is for everyone, but College golf isn't," she said. In fact, in addition to continuing her career with TRC, building her own website as a resource to her peers, and playing golf professionally, she will continue to work towards earning a college degree - something her family thinks is too important not to work towards. In fact, her mother, Georgina Lewis, a wildly successful owner of an IBM Business Solutions Company that she sold so she could concentrate on TRC, holds degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration. Something she achieved in less than 3 years.

Meanwhile, as a golfer, Lewis is somewhat of a celebrity in the Jacksonville area. Hard to imagine, but, Jacksonville has not turned out an LPGA Tour professional born native female golfer in over 20-years; and she has a lot of eyes on her. Winner of over 50 titles, Lewis is hoping to turn her experiences on the Duramed Futures Tour into a ticket on to the LPGA Tour. She will play in numerous Duramed Futures Tour events, will try to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open Championship, and she will also play in a select number of Canadian Women's Tour events. Lewis is hoping to follow in the footsteps of several LPGA Tour golfers who also got their start on the Duramed Futures Tour such as: Grace Park, Beth Bauer, Lorena Ochoa, Christina Kim, and Vicky Hurst.

And she's off to a great start. After shooting an opening-round 1-under-71 on the par-72 6,389-yard LPGA International Champions Course in Daytona, she followed with identical rounds of 3-under-69 to move up the leaderboard, finish in a tie for fifth, and pocket $3,066 to move into the Tour's Top-25 after just one event.

"The difference between amateur and professional golf is that you subconsciously take it more serious and the feeling is exhilarating," Lewis said. "Out on tour mistakes have to be extremely minimal in order to win."
