She subsequently worked in acute care, and has held positions as a Director of Clinical Operations in Certified Home Health Care Agencies, Regional Director of Patient Services and a Regional Vice President of Operations in Licensed Home Care Services Agencies. Ms. Markashi was also briefly active in pharmaceutical sales for AstraZeneca where she became fluent in business strategy, marketing, and sales.
Avid about giving back, Ms. Markashi supports Catholic Charities USA, Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the American Red Cross, as well as events that support cancer and other illnesses. Ms. Markashi is also an advocate and translator for the refugee resettlement for the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York and a volunteer for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Medical Reserve Corps.
To prepare for her career in the field, Ms. Markashi earned an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing at The City University of The College of Staten Island in 1995, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Psychology at The City University of Lehman College in 1999. She subsequently received her credentials as a licensed professional Registered Nurse in New York and New Jersey, as well as certifications in Patient Access Essentials, Business of Healthcare, and as a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional through the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
