Mr. Smith won the All Star Award in 2017 and received several citations from the New York City Council and the New York State Senate for his work in education.

An accomplished educational adviser and director with years of experience to his credit, Mr. Smith presently excels as the director of NYC Men Teach at Queens College, The City University of New York (CUNY). Since obtaining the role in 2019, he has spearheaded the implementation of the School of Education's most extensive teacher diversity access program. Prior to joining Queens College, Mr. Smith lent his expertise to the CUNY system as the founder and director of the ASAP Men's Roundtable at Bronx Community College, through which he also served as a senior academic ASAP student adviser.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Smith gained valuable expertise in the field of education as the director of Mercy College's Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program and the director of college programs and college scholars at KIPP NYC. Similarly, he has served as a chaplain and a diversity, equity, and inclusion facilitator and coach for many years. In conjunction with his work, Mr. Smith has contributed to his community as an ordained minister and the CUNY system as the co-leader of the Queens College Black and Latinx Faculty and Staff Association.
An expert in his field, Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors in English from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and earned some graduate credits in the M.A. English Education program at The City College of New York. Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning a Master of Science in organizational leadership from the City University of New York – Herbert H. Lehman College, and certificates in leadership, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Currently, he is pursuing an EdD in leadership for educational equity in higher education at the University of Colorado Denver.
In light of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Smith won the All Star Award in 2017 and received several citations from the New York City Council and the New York State Senate for his work in education. Recently, he was also nominated for the Inaugural Presidential Staff Award for Diversity and Inclusion. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in founding the ASAP Men's Roundtable at Bronx Community College, which he represented at conferences locally, regionally, and nationally. The cornerstone of his success lay in his faith and family, both of which have kept him grounded. Looking toward the future, Mr. Smith aims to obtain a higher education leadership role where he can further impact students of color. Ultimately, he would also like to be an educational consultant specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
