Carlsbad Department of Development Celebrates Spring Hollow Subdivision Groundbreaking

The Carlsbad Department of Development joined dozens of community leaders, government officials and inspired citizens at the much anticipated groundbreaking for Spring Hollow, the newest residential neighborhood in Carlsbad, New Mexico.



    CARLSBAD, NM, May 16, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Carlsbad Department of Development joined dozens of community leaders, government officials and inspired citizens at the much anticipated groundbreaking for Spring Hollow, the newest residential neighborhood in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The Spring Hollow subdivision is the creation of Ken Thurston Homes, a development company based out of Las Cruces, NM. Ken Thurston recognized opportunity with many of the major employers in the Carlsbad area expanding and new industrial operations starting within a few months. This expected future demand for homes exacerbates to the city's existing need for single-family housing.

Spring Hollow is located off Callaway Drive just west of the CARC Farm Pecan Orchard. There are 191 homes planned for development of this subdivision with prices starting in the $160Ks. Ken Thurston Homes are energy efficient and feature the EPA's Energy Star endorsement.
At the groundbreaking, which took place on May 7th, key speaker and master of ceremonies was City of Carlsbad Mayor Bob Forrest. Mayor Forrest gave special credit to a number of people, groups and businesses for their involvement to get the Spring Hollow subdivision "open for business." Mr. Ken Thurston expressed gratitude for the efforts of Mayor Forrest and everyone supporting his project. Additional thanks were echoed by Mr. Oran Means, from Means Real Estate, who has been representing Ken Thurston Homes in Carlsbad during the planning and design phase. Also speaking at the event were Mr. Dave Sepich, Board President of the Carlsbad Department of Development and Mr. John Waters, Executive Director of the Carlsbad Department of Development, who noted the growth of Carlsbad and the need for new housing is the greatest (he) has seen during his 32 years in the city. "It's a very exciting time for Carlsbad."

The Carlsbad Department of Development (CDOD) is a private non-profit agency incorporated as a 501(c)(6) organization in 1966. The membership of the CDOD represents over 100 chief executive officers in industry, business and finance, the City of Carlsbad, Eddy County Board of Commissioners, New Mexico State University-Carlsbad, and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. The goal of the CDOD is to promote the economic and general welfare of the citizens of the City of Carlsbad and South Eddy County through job retention and creation by recruiting new industry, identifying new job opportunities, expanding and retaining existing business and diversifying our economy.
