George L. Oswald, RPAC, BS, MPA Honored by Cambridge Who's Who

George L. Oswald, RPAC, BS, MPA has been serving as first assistant to the surgeon in the operating suite for 30 years.



    MINEOLA, NY, May 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- George L. Oswald, RPAC, BS, MPA, a surgical physician assistant at Winthrop-University Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in surgery and surgical sub-specialties.

George L. Oswald, RPAC, BS, MPA, a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, joined Winthrop-University Hospital in September 2000 as a staff PA. In December 2007, he was appointed First Surgical Assistant in the Department of Surgery, Division of Bariatric Surgery where he fulfills various essential roles including performing pre-operative evaluations of patients, assisting surgeons during surgery, evaluating the results of laboratory and x-rays studies, and determining post operative management with the attending surgeon. Prior to joining Winthrop-University Hospital, he worked as a General Surgery Physician Assistant at Cabrini Medical Center in New York City, where he was later appointed as Chief Surgical PA, Chief PA in Urology and Chief PA in Radiology.

Mr. Oswald received a Master of Public Administration in Health Policy and Management with a concentration in Finance from New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in 1992 and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Science from Long Island University, Brooklyn's Cumberland Medical Center Physician Assistant Program in 1979. He is a Board Certified Physician Assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and a Registered Physician Assistant through the Education Department of The University of the State of New York's Office of the Professions. He holds a DEA Controlled Substances Registration Certificate and is a Certified Notary Public in Nassau County, New York.

Mr. Oswald is eligible for status as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He is a member of the New York State Society of Physician Assistants, the Carle Place Hook Ladder and Hose Company Number 1, the Firemen's Association of the State of New York, the Better Investing Organization, and the National Association of Investors Corporation. He is a former member of the New York State Disaster Medical Assistance Team. In 2005, the Carle Place Hook Ladder & Hose Co. Number 1 honored Mr. Oswald with an award for 35 years of active service and in 1970, he was named Fireman of the Year. Mr. Oswald is a charter member of the Department of Homeland Security and Local Blood Bank Chairman of the Carle Place Fire Department. He appeared in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare (2000-2001). He attributes his success to his upbringing, hard work, a concerned and reliable nature, and the patience and support of his family.
