/24-7PressRelease/ - LIVONIA, MI, January 03, 2006 -- Most home sellers dream of having their homes sell quickly. But for Barbara Potrukus, that dream became a nightmare, as her home in Gross Ile, Mich. languished on the market for almost 10 years, without bringing a single offer.
Then Potrukus called Auctioneer Ken Lindsey, chief executive officer of American Eagle Auction and Appraisal Co. and things started to happen fast. Within eight weeks, the home and all its contents were sold, all in about four hours. Lindsey decided to team up with another auction firm, Sheridan Realty and Auction Co., which handled the sale of the home, while Lindsey's company sold the contents.
"It goes to show you when you set goals and team up when necessary the results are phenomenal," he said.
Doug Sheridan, sales manager for Sheridan Realty and Auction, said it's not uncommon for real estate companies to collaborate to produce the best results for the seller. An auction always produces the best price the market will bear, he said.
"An auction brings true market value. We brought the market to her," Sheridan said.
That market included some 350 registered bidders despite the fact temperatures in Gross Ile, Mich., hovered around 20 degrees on auction day.
Lindsey attributes the high attendance to the excitement an auction is known to generate. "An auction has that built-in urgency that is essential for any kind of sales process," he said.
Both Lindsey and Sheridan said Potrukus was happy with the outcome of the sale. "Her property sold for higher than she expected, and the one regret she had was that she didn't call us sooner," Lindsey said.
