EAST HAVEN, CT, June 11, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elizabeth Wilk-Rivard, MD, Ph.D., Attending Physician and Faculty Member for Mount Sinai School of Medicine, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of healthcare.

With 43 years of professional experience, Dr. Wilk-Rivard specializes in internal, occupational and environmental medicine, working with individuals, conducting research, consulting and advising on the importance of prevention in occupational medicine. She also serves as an expert witness in the New York City Court System for the World Trade Center workers and volunteers. She served as a Reserve Officer in the U.S. Army and ski patrol in Connecticut for five years. Dr. Wilk-Rivard conducted research on aging as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Yale University School of Medicine and trained in general practice at the Carney Hospital in Boston, Massachussetts, and at the University of Boston. She attributes her success to her dedication and determination.

Dr. Wilk-Rivard received her Ph.D. in 1976 and her MD in 1966, from Jagiellonian University Medical College. She participated in a Doctoral Program at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and participated in the residency program in occupational and environmental medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and a residency program in primary care and preventive medicine and public health in the United States and Poland. Dr. Wilk-Rivard received her board certification in occupational medicine and is a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
