Windermere Air Show take place between July 25th and 26th and is set against the background of Bowness-on-Windermere, which offers some of the most spectacular views in the country.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, June 26, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fans of aviation and the Lake District have the opportunity to combine their passions in just a few short weeks at Windermere Air Show.

Set to be held between July 25th and 26th, the event will take place against the background of Bowness-on-Windermere, which offers some of the most spectacular views in the country and is within easy reach of the wide array of Lake District hotels.

The skies over the body of water, which is the largest natural lake in England, will be filled with some of the globe's most exciting aircraft, including the XH558 Avro Vulcan Bomber, a subsonic jet bomber that was operated by the Royal Air Force between 1953 and 1984.

Having played a key role in the Cold War, the plane also saw active service in the Falklands war.

Other aerial shows set to take to the sky at the celebration include demonstrations by the Red Arrows Aerobatic Display Team, the Guinot Wing Walkers and the Yakovlevs Aerobatic Team.

Meanwhile, military displays from the army will be set up on the ground, as will a flight simulator, model aircraft, steam locomotives, static showcases and World War II vehicles.

South Lakeland district council explains: "Music will be provided by brass bands and a range of other entertainment including sheep dog displays, falconry, cookery demonstrations, fun fair and children's entertainers will provide something for all the family."
