Harriette Flachmeier Honored for Excellence in Music Education

Professional Musician Harriette Flachmeier celebrates 50 years in the field of music education

DALLAS, TX, July 9, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Harriette Flachmeier, Music Teacher for The Hockaday School and Owner of Sounds & Strums, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of music education.

With an impressive professional background that spans 50 years, Harriette Flachmeier specializes in musical instruction. A skilled composer and producer, she teaches the fundamentals of music to the students at The Hockaday School. As the owner of Sounds & Strums, she provides private music lessons to a wide variety of students at beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels. Proficient on both the piano and guitar, Ms. Flachmeier has written and performed in a number of appearances alongside Patricia Edward including "Alice's Wonderland" and "Open a New Window." She has composed the musicals "Tomran" and "Red, White and Swing," among many more ballads and songs. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was selected as Cambridge Who's Who outstanding VIP of the Year in 2008.

Ms. Flachmeier attributes her success to her passion for music. She considers assisting musical students to find their creative spark to be the most gratifying aspect of her career. When she's not teaching, Ms. Flachmeier played the piano and guitar for the Sunday services at SMU Perkins Chapel in Dallas. She attended and majored in music education at The University of Texas at Austin, plays for private parties and gigs, and is an avid supporter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the American Heart Association, Inc., the American Lung Association and Northaven United Methodist Church. She is the mother of four grown married daughters and has seven grandchildren.
