Quadriplegic Overcomes Adversity by Focusing on Brain Over Brawn

CHICAGO, IL, July 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Long-time Chicago resident, Robert Prondzinski, spent little time on self-pity and the "why me?" questions when he suffered a severe spinal cord injury. A quadriplegic since the age of 17--more than 45 years ago--Bob had bigger plans for himself.

Too late to reap benefits of the doors recently opened for stem cell research, Bob takes it all in stride: no regrets, no wishing to go back. "I've had a great life," he says. "There's no sense in playing the "what if" game."

And, what a life it's been.

On a continuum of the life he led before his injury, Bob took plenty of time to get himself and his friends into unusual situations--some not so funny, and some completely laughable from start to finish. With constant urging from friends and family to document the stories he tells so well and so often during social gatherings, Bob used voice-activated software to start writing. Framing the anecdotes with information about his accident, rehab, school, job hunting, living independently, and getting married, the manuscript became a published memoir in 2008 entitled, Another Fine Mess You've Gotten Us Into: The Life and Adventures of a Quad. While reviews tout the book as a great read for a general audience, Bob includes a section detailing equipment and technology that has helped make his life easier, which has proven to be a valuable resource for others with similar mobility challenges.

During his life of adventure and success, Bob earned two masters degrees, built his dream house and, now retired from a career as corporate vice president of information technology from Nestle Clinical Nutrition Corporation, he travels the U.S. in his customized Winnebago nearly 50% of the year.

With National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month coming up in September, Bob would be a great interview who demonstrates how attitude can shape the course of a challenged life, and lend a lifetime of experiences to give tips and advice to others.

Another FIne Mess You've Gotten Us Into: The Life and Adventures of a Quad, is available on Amazon.com and the author's website, where you'll find complementary chapters for immediate download. For more information or to contact Bob, visit www.finemessadventure.com
