With 13 years of experience as the president of the Puerto Rican Institute for Arts and Advocacy, Ms. Perez-Nieves excels in promoting health and organizing social and civic activities through arts in education. After finding a necessity in educating others, she came up with a way for people to identify themselves through the arts including theater, dramatization, rhythms and music. She attributes her success to her energetic nature and desire to make positive changes.

Ms. Perez-Nieves received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Inter-American University of Puerto Rico in 1989. She is a member of the National Puerto Rican Coalition and the National Association of Professional Women. She is a volunteer wirh American News Newspaper and Latino Public Radio. In the future, she would like to establish an academy in Rhode Island.
