St. Paul Orthodontist Sponsors Children' s Activities at Lakeville July 4th Celebration

    ST. PAUL AND MINNEAPOLIS, MN, July 21, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cosmopolitan Orthodontics, a new St. Paul orthodontics practice, will sponsor the children' s activities at the city of Lakeville's upcoming July 4th celebration.

This will be the first year participating in the event, but hopefully not the last, said St. Paul, MN Orthodontist Dr. Jennifer Eisenhuth, who owns the practice.

Cosmopolitan Orthodontics' sponsorship will provide inflatables for children to play in while awaiting the fireworks, said Dr. Trudy Bonvino, a St. Paul, MN Invisalign specialist who is the orthodontist on staff at the practice, which opened in June. This will be the first time inflatables will be a part of this 43-year-old event, said Patty Dexter, Lakeville' s recreation supervisor.

Due to the economy, the success of the Panorama of Progress event is totally reliant on sponsorships from businesses, Dexter said. It's run and facilitated by volunteers in the community and with the new sponsorship from Cosmopolitan Orthodontics, we are having inflatables at a Fourth of July event that we never could afford before.

Dexter said she expects the inflatables to be a huge draw.
The idea for inflatables came about as a result of some collective brainstorming, she said. Representatives from Cosmopolitan Orthodontics wanted to focus on providing an activity geared toward children.

I mentioned the July 4th event and almost simultaneously, we both mentioned inflatables, Dexter said. We had thought about doing this before, but for various reasons, we just haven't. When we got this generous donation, we got approval to use (the inflatables) and off we went.

The July 4th festivities are held at Lakeville North High School. The inflatables area opens at 6 p.m. There will be three inflatables so that children of all ages can enjoy them, Dexter said.

Another new element for this year's event is a food drive to benefit the Community Action Council's food shelves. Other activities include live music, a silent auction, concessions and a recognition ceremony for the armed forces, police departments and fire departments.

The fireworks, which are set to music, are designed by RES Specialty Pyrotechnics.

The city's July 4th celebration kicks off a week of events known as the Panorama of Progress, or Pan-O-Prog. This year, the events run through July 11.

Pan-O-Prog's creation was due in large part from the successful development of Lakeville's Airlake Industrial Park in 1963, according to the event's Web site, www.panoprog.org. Community leaders believed the industrial park was the beginning growth in the area and wanted to create a way to celebrate that success. Pan-O-Prog was presented for the first time four years later in 1967.

The week-long celebration includes the Grand Parade, a classic car parade, pageants, tournaments, cookouts, crafts, street dances, a battle of the bands, talent shows and pet shows, among other activities.
