Dr. Joseph J. Casey has 26 years of experience as a medical doctor. In 2008, he joined Holy Cross Medical Group as a breast specialist. His responsibilities include the clinical evaluation of women with breast abnormalities employing ultrasound technology for the early detection, diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast diseases. He is the founder of the 'Dr. Joseph & Sandra Casey Scholarship' a self-funded scholarship for Broward County students to be able to attend the University of Notre Dame in memory of his father. He became involved in his profession because of his experience in general surgery and surgical oncology. He attributes his success to the support he receives from his excellent mentors.

He completed his clinical fellowship with the American Cancer Society at Evanston Hospital of Illinois, a Residency in General Surgery at Northwestern University, a Residency in Family Practice at Memorial Hospital & Health System of South Bend and received his MD from Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. He is a board member of the Broward Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Medical Director of Holy Cross HealthPlex Physicians Outpatient Surgery Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of The American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Disease.

Holy Cross Hospital was the first community hospital in the nation to participate in the National Cancer Institute's Partnerships in Science Program.
