OAKLAND, CA, September 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brenda Walker Deputy City Administrator of the City of Oakland, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in finance and budget management.

Brenda Walker has over 24 years of experience in public and private sectors focusing on finance, budgeting, contracting and project management in the public transportation, parking services, public works, capital and construction programs, real estate investment, and development, and public health services. As Deputy City Administrator of the City of Oakland, her responsibilities include working with elected officials, boards and commissions, attending council meetings regarding the formulation and administration of city-wide policy. Prior to working for the City of Oakland, Ms. Walker served as the Deputy Director, Transportation Development and the Capital Asset Manager for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency where she was responsible for the management and leadership of the project management, engineering and construction management units; and the development of the Agency's $4.5 billion Five-Year Capital Investment Plan, the Short Range Transit Plan, and the Regional Transportation Plan. Over the years, Ms. Walker has excelled in a variety of leadership and management positions that has contributed to the foundation of her success and professionalism. Many of these positions include Budget Manager, SFMTA; Director, Budget and Finance, San Francisco Department of Public Health, AIDS Office; Business Manager, University of California, Davis; and Contracting Specialist, United States Air Force.

Ms. Walker received her Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University in 1990 and her Bachelor of Science in Human Relations from Golden Gate University in 1988. She has also received executive leadership training from Harvard Business School in 2008. She is a member of the American Public Transportation Association, the National Forum for Black Public Administrators, and the Democratic National Committee.
