Demonstrating over two decades of proficiency in the nursing field, Lisa J. Brackney is recognized for her expertise in geriatric care. As the director of Apollo Career Center's Practical Nursing Program, Ms. Brackney expertly oversees curriculum development and daily operations, and is tasked with coordinating nursing classes and scheduling clinical rotations for nursing students and faculty. She also administers pre-entrance testing and develops written policies. Ms. Brackney coordinates faculty meetings and maintains communications between healthcare institutions and faculty in an effort to ensure that students meet the educational standards set by Apollo Career Center. She utilizes her expertise to provide unsurpassed tutoring services for her students and is often sought by her fellow administrative professionals as a point of contact.
Ms. Brackney credits her career choice to a seemingly innate interest in teaching as well as a desire to help others. Her personal drive and the unwavering support of her husband, Denny Brackney, are the undisputed keys to her success. Most recently, Ms. Brackney was selected to manage an advisory committee between the Apollo School of Practical Nursing and local area healthcare representatives. Never one to rest on her laurels, she is developing a stackable credit program to assist students with the transition in nursing degrees.
Ms. Brackney holds a master's degree in nursing, earned through the University of Phoenix in 2002. That same year, she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her professional affiliations include the Ohio Organization for Practical Nurse Educators and the Licensed Practical Nurse Association of Ohio, Inc. Looking to the future, Ms. Brackney intends to pursue a doctoral degree.
