Hocking Hills Tourism Association Announces Winner of Romantic Makeover Contest for "Worst Gift Ever"

A leading outdoors getaway hotspot, Hocking Hills, announced the winner of its worst gift ever contest, who won a free, full-package weekend retreat in Hocking Hills.

HOCKING HILLS, OH, October 06, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Hocking Hills Tourism Association announced the winner of its contest that gives a full weekend retreat for two in the Hocking Hills. Judy Mance, from Dayton, Ohio, is the lucky winner who posted her story about receiving the "worst gift ever." Participants, like Judy, entered the viral contest via the Hocking Hills Tourism Association Facebook page- where they shared the worst gift they have ever received. People could vote for the worst gift on the site, and the Hocking Hills Tourism Association selected the ultimate winner.

Judy shared her story of receiving the birthday gift her husband said was "to die for-" a cemetery plot. Judy says it's one gift she will never forget. Despite 139 entries on the Facebook page, Judy's stood out among the rest. "When my husband told me it was a gift I would die for, I was so excited," Judy said. "The last thing I expected for my birthday was a cemetery plot!"

Thanks to her "worst gift ever," Judy earned: two nights in a luxury cabin at Deer Mountain Retreat, The Grouse Nest Traveling Chef will come to the cabin to prepare a gourmet dinner one night, dinner for two at the Millstone one night, tickets for two on the Hocking Hills Canopy Tour Zipline Adventure, tickets for two on the Hocking Hills Nature Trails ATV Adventure, in-cabin couples massage, and a welcome basket in the cabin with goodies and souvenirs.

This viral campaign was largely successful; the Hocking Hills Tourism Association now has 887 Facebook fans and 559 likes/votes on the Facebook page. Because there were so many excellent submissions, the Hocking Hills Tourism Association is also giving a People's Choice Award to the entry that had the most votes on the Facebook page. The People's Choice Award goes to Brianna Herman, who earned 205 votes and her worst gift was actually no gift at all from her boyfriend on her 21st birthday. Her Facebook submission begged for votes, saying, "Please vote for us! He needs all the help he can get!"
