World Vision Launch Widget

Leading international aid, advocacy and development agency World Vision unveiled their latest online development in the shape of a widget this week, 5 October 2009.

FOX MILNE, ENGLAND, October 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leading international aid, advocacy and development agency World Vision unveiled their latest online development in the shape of a widget this week, 5 October 2009. Developed by their incumbent search engine optimisation and social media agency, iCrossing, this unique widget is built with a combination of both JavaScript and HTML and will improve the charity's natural search visibility.

The widget pulls in news feeds from the www.worldvision.org.uk site and has a browser featuring one of the children in some of the world's poorest countries where the charity works, who need to be sponsored and a link, which then takes you to the website where you are able to go through the process of sponsoring that specific child. There are also a series of tabs, which highlight World Vision campaigns against injustice and promote child rights.

The widget will eventually be placed on other organisations websites who identify with and support the work World Vision is doing in some of the world's most impoverished communities. To take the widget to a wider audience, supporters will also have the option to add the widget code to their own websites.

World Vision Director of Marketing and Fundraising Mathew Neville says, '"these are exciting times for World Vision because we want to meet our supporters where they are and make it easier for them to engage with our work. This means embracing new and exciting ways of reaching them. The launch of this widget will help to increase our online brand visibility and more importantly encourage the acquisition of new child sponsors - vitally important people in our fight against poverty for the world's poorest people."

Notes to Editors:

World Vision is a Christian charity and one of the world's leading international relief and development agencies, currently helping more than 100 million people in nearly 100 countries (including including India and Africa) in their struggle against poverty, hunger and injustice, irrespective of their religious beliefs.

World Vision supporters currently sponsor 3.4 million children in almost 100 countries with over 120,000 children sponsored by UK supporters.

World Vision works to make a significant and sustainable impact on poverty and its causes, especially as they affect children. For as little as 60p per day (GBP18 per month) you can sponsor a child with World Vision and give them a better chance in life. Through child sponsorship, you can personally reach out and connect with a child and their community and follow their progress as they overcome incredible hardships and build for the future.
