Correction - ASPEN Health Care Services Receives CHAP Accreditation

    LEWISVILLE, TX, October 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Board of Review of the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP) in Washington DC confirmed today that Aspen Health Care Services has been conferred full accreditation status as a home health agency serving the greater Dallas and Fort Worth areas. CHAP accreditation is reserved for home health agencies meeting the industry's highest nationally recognized standards. Rigorous evaluation employed by CHAP focuses on service quality, structural strength, organizational effectiveness, and human and financial resources. With CHAP accreditation ASPEN is also automatically certified as a Medicare provider.

ABOUT CHAP

The Community Health Accreditation Program is a private, non-profit accrediting body. It was the first accrediting organization for community-based health care services in the United States. CHAP was created in 1965 as a joint venture between the American Public Health Association and the National League for Nursing (NLN). These organizations dedicated their efforts with the view that voluntary accreditation was the most effective means for promoting excellence in community health practice. In 1988 CHAP became a separately incorporated, non-profit subsidiary of the NLN. In 2001, it was spun-off by the NLN and became an independent, non-profit corporation.

CHAP was granted "deeming authority" by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in 1992 for home health and in 1999 for hospice agencies. The CMS grant conferred CHAP with regulatory authority to evaluate agencies providing home health and hospice services and to determine whether they meet requirements for Medicare provider certification. In 2006 CMS additionally granted CHAP deeming authority for home medical equipment providers.
