Cathy Ann Carlson celebrates second year with Abilities Plus

GENESEO, IL, November 16, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cathy Ann Carlson, Parent-Child Educator for the Prevention Initiative of Abilities Plus, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.

Specialized in education, Cathy Ann Carlson lends eight years of professional experience to Abilities Plus, a nonprofit organization that provides services for individuals with developmental delays. At her post, Ms. Carlson consults with parents and works with developmentally delayed children in an effort to prepare them for preschool. An active public speaker, she travels to local libraries to inform the community about the various programs offered by Abilities Plus.

Prior to joining Abilities Plus, Ms. Carlson served as an assistant general manager for Culvers from 2006-2008 and a substitute teacher for hearing impaired, physically handicapped and special needs children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Ms. Carlson notes that an interest in working with children prompted her to become involved in her profession. She enjoys helping young people to learn and develop new skills, and considers her faith in Christ to be the driving force behind her success.

Ms. Carlson completed coursework in management studies and early intervention education. She holds a bachelor of science in music education from Northern Illinois University and is licensed in sanitation. In recognition of professional excellence, she was honored with the "Woman of the Year Award" by the Henry County Farm Bureau in 1988. Ms. Carlson is an independent distributer for Mary Kay and is professionally affiliated with the Illinois Farm Bureau.
